I am a 2D animator with a style reminiscent of modern Western cartoons, with an emphasis on round shapes and bright colors. My work tends to operate in Sci-Fi realms, or on different worlds. I find myself wanting to imagine worlds outside of reality because it is in those spaces that I feel the most creative freedom, and where I find the most compelling stories.
Most animation, designs, and work I do are all very colorful and bright. I enjoy animating and illustrating with more textured brushes, bringing a sense of organic playfulness to my work. I believe animation is a tool to have fun and enjoy something outside of the ordinary, which is why many of my influences are stories dealing with absurdity and humor. On the other hand, it is very important to me that I incorporate Black characters into my work. In my journey of becoming an animator, it has become clear to me how little POC representation there is in animation, and so I enjoy trying to push against that wall. The colors and styles I use influence my stories. I find myself wanting to write stories that make people laugh, or simply enjoy with a smile on their faces.  Both my style and the themes I enjoy push me towards creating stories that might sweep the audience away from the real world, if only for a few moments.
My senior film is titled 'Milky Way Adventures In Meowter Space: High Steaks'. The film follows a cowboy named Kash and his cow Belly as they get abducted and fused together in an alien spaceship. High Steaks is a whimsical, action-packed story that I hope will keep the audience guessing. I’m using different color palettes to assist not only my characters but the audience to transport themselves onto the spaceship, and into what is a completely different world. I hope for a moment my audience can be immersed in a world outside of our reality, and above all, I hope they have fun.
